SURPRISE! One Direction Drops New Single ‘Drag Me Down’

It’s early Friday morning, you have the weekend ahead. What could be better? The news that One Direction has just dropped a new single, Drag Me Down.

Fans of One Direction are having one hell of a week.

Just a few days ago, former 1D member, Zayn Malik confirmed his plans for a solo career as he announced he signed with RCA…

And now, the fabulous foursome that is One Direction has just released a new single called ‘Drag Me Down’.

Liam Payne tweeted the news to followers at 6:30am U.K. time Friday morning:

What a sweet surprise! IT’S SO GOOD. Such a well crafted tune.  A funky little jam that’s got the 1D signature sound all over it. Admittedly, with a title like ‘Drag Me Down’, I just assumed that the song would be the boys’ version of a “diss track” but then I listened to it and it has absolutely nothing to do with Zayn or his departure from the group.

‘Drag Me Down’ is 1D’s first released post Zayn and, although we miss him, we couldn’t be more excited for what’s in store for One Direction as the boys continue to move forward.

According to Billboard, the song was written by Jamie Scott, John Ryan and Julian Bunetta, and produced by Ryan and Bunetta. It’s available worldwide on Spotify and iTunes. Payne and his bandmates Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan are in the midst of their fourth North American tour, On The Road Again.

To download the single, the iTunes link is here. It’s the best .99p you’ll spend all weekend! Congrats, guys!

Who’s ready for album #5? The rumour is that it’s due out in November. Hang in there, fans!
