This has been such a trying few years for Usher, with the death of his ex-stepson. However, he will now be able to gain some closure in the traumatic situation.

Jeffery S. Hubbard, a family friend, was arrested last March and was convicted on Thursday of serious injury by vessel, reckless operation, unlawful operation of personal watercraft and boat traffic violation, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He is set to be sentenced March 5.

Kile Glover was an 11-year-old boy just trying to enjoy a day on the water in July 2012, when tragedy struck. He was struck by Hubbard, who was driving a Jet Ski.

When Kile was struck, he sustained fatal injuries including severe brain damage. He was taken off of life support mere weeks later.

Kile is the son of Tameka Foster, Usher’s ex-wife. Although Usher and Foster broke up in 2009, he continued to be a part of Kile’s life and was deeply affected by the loss.

When talking about Hubbard’s involvement Foster told Atlanta’s Channel 2 News that, “At the end of the day, I know he didn’t do it on purpose.” He could’ve only loved Kile.”

Kile’s father is TV executive Ryan Glover. In order to keep Kile’s memory alive, Foster set up Kyle’s World Foundation in her son’s memory, benefiting arts and media education programs for children.

Our thoughts go out to Kile’s family members and friends.
