Game of Thrones has been a huge hit for HBO. Raking in ratings, fans and viewers; the series is proving to be a smash success. Add beer sales to that list, and Game of Thrones proves it’s even making a splash in the brewery industry.

BeerPulse.com reported back in March that HBO partnered with Brewery Ommegang and launched an appropriately named blonde ale called, Iron Throne. Whether or not it was blonde in honor of the incest queen and her family, or maybe the late Lord Stark; or maybe I’m just over thinking this.

Either way, the label was ranked 95/100 by Ratebeer.com: “Pour slowly so as to not disturb the yeast sediment, but with enough vigor to create a luxurious head and release the rich bouquet.

Ommegang and HBO have launched a new label called, Take the Black. Here’s a description directly from the beer’s label, “

Ommegang Take the Black

is a 7% stout ‘as dark as the winters that once engulfed Westeros, as robust as the men who swear their oaths at the Weirwood Tree. Chocolate and caramel sweetness are balanced by hop bitterness. Roasty, woodsy notes, and an earthy finish.’”

With huge success following the series, we’re certain Take the Black will have its own success and look forward to a third label from the Brewery company in the future.

Here’s to a successful launch and highly-anticipated 4th season, cheers!
