In a not-so-surprising move, the Stone Temple Pilots issued a press release on Wednesday informing the masses of Scott Weiland’s termination from the band. Apparently the band forgot one thing, to inform Weiland of his departure. Responding he stated, “Not sure how I can be ‘terminated’ from a band that I founded, fronted and co-wrote many of its biggest hits, but that’s something for the lawyers to figure out.”
Drama is nothing new for STP, this isn’t their first break-up, nor do I think it will be their last. Coincidently, after their previous break-up the band reunited in 2008 and buried the hatchet and embarked on a 65 date reunion tour. BUT, this all happened after Weiland’s other band Velvet Revolver kicked him to the curb due to erratic onstage behavior.
Don’t worry, Weiland has a back-up plan. His solo tour begins on Friday. The 17 date tour kicks off in Flint, Michigan with backing band the Wildabouts. Check out where they’ll be heading on Scott’s official site http://www.scottweiland.com
So is Weiland just a troubled soul or is this just a publicity stunt to keep the Stone Temple Pilots relevant? Let us know what you think!
