A TV adaption of the hit-comedy ‘Bad Teacher’ is in the works for CBS. The 2011 film featured a star-studded cast, with the likes of Cameron Diaz, Justin Timberlake, Jason Segel and Lucy Punch as main characters.
Similar to the film, the TV show will focus on an attractive, foul-mouthed teacher, on the hunt to find a new husband, after her recent divorce. The show will consist of 30-minute episodes, with both writers of the film, attached as executive producers. Additionally, Happy Endings Hilary Winston has been hired to pen the TV show.
As far as casting news goes, David Alan Grier most famous for his stint on the show ‘In Living Colour’ will play the part of school principal (previously played by John Michael Higgins). However, there is no word yet, on who is lined up to play Diaz’s character, Elizabeth, nor any word on when the pilot is set to air.
Bad Teacher is alongside 11 other pilots in development for CBS; let’s hope some of them can follow in the footsteps of hit CBS shows The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother and Two and a Half Men.
