Last Thursday’s live announcement of the 2017 Emmy nominations had TV enthusiasts at the edge of their seats, ultimately delivering the usual snubs and surprises. Now that we’ve had a full weekend to recover, let’s take a look at how some of the Emmy contenders reacted to their nominations.
Riz Ahmed (The Night Of /Girls)
The British actor, nominated for both Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series (The Night Of) and Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series (Girls), celebrated with a little “tbt,” sharing a video of a “previously unseen acting performance” showing off his 6 year-old self’s best Prince Charles impression.
Reese Witherspoon (Big Little Lies)
Nominated alongside co-star Nicole Kidman for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series (Big Little Lies), Witherspoon shared the love, posting a group shot of all the HBO hit show’s leading ladies, thanking the cast, crew, and fans. Big Little Lies earned a whopping 16 nominations, including actings nods for Witherspoon, Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Alexander Skarsgård, and Laura Dern.

Laura Dern (Big Little Lies)
This will be the sixth Emmy nomination for Dern, who emerged as a scene-stealer in Big Little Lies. Like Witherspoon, she posted a group picture, further proving that the sisterhood among the HBO cast cannot be shaken. Is #squadgoals still a thing?
Kevin Spacey (House of Cards)
Spacey needs no introduction. And his Instagram post reacting to his fifth Emmy nomination as Frank Underwood (House of Cards) needs no further comment.

Anthony Hopkins (Westworld)
Star of Westworld, the most-nominated series of the season, Hopkins reacted to his Emmy nomination, the fifth of his career, in the classiest way possible: a simple thank you. Co-stars Jeffrey Wright, Thandie Newton, and Evan Rachel Wood were also nominated.

Tracee Ellis Ross (Black-ish)
This will be Ross’ second nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. The actress shared a group picture with her “Black-ish” co-stars, and it’s as goofy as you would expect from one of tv’s funniest families.

David Harbour (Stranger Things)
In the style of Riz Ahmed, the Stranger Things star responded to his nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series with a “tbt” (hey, it was Thursday, after all). Harbour threw it back to his kindergarten class’ production of The Wizard of Oz, in which he played the Tin-Man. In a Batman t-shirt. “Legendary work,” indeed.

Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things)
Harbour’s co-star, Millie Bobby Brown, shared a picture of her and fellow nominee on the set of Stranger Things, adding that the hit Netflix series “is a show to represent equality, fairness, and outcasts.” And honestly, is anyone else weirded out by how young she looks here? They sure grow up so fast, don’t they?

Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale)
The Handmaid’s Tale star admitted she was shocked to see the show earn thirteen nominations, and let everyone know acting is “not a solo sport” and would be nothing without the support and hard work of the entire cast and crew. Speaking of sports, she also apparently has a big crush on Anthony Rizzo from the Chicago Cubs. Who knew?
Tituss Burgess (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt)
“Being nominated means the world. And the world means so much to me.” Enough said. #checkthehashtags
