Start stretching and dust off your dancing shoes because Kinky Boots is coming to Broadway.
The show, which is based on the movie of the same name from 2005, is a new musical, with music and lyrics by the one and only Cyndi Lauper. The show tells the based-on-a-true-story tale of Charlie (Tony Award nominee Stark Sands), who inherits his father’s crumbling shoe factory. When Charlie meets Lola (Billy Porter) an entertainer in need of some incredible stilettos, he starts to realize that the unlikely pair may just be able to not only help each other out but also kick the businesses back into high productivity. The show also co-starts Annaleigh Ashford (Hair, Legally Blonde, and Wicked).
The creative team for this how is stellar. Not only do we get Grammy Award Winner Lauper, Tony-Winner Jerry Mitchell not directs the show but choreographs it as well, rounding out the creative team is a book written by Harvey Fierstein.
