The British are certainly coming to the US in a big way. Hot on the heels of One Direction, Adele, Emeli Sandé, Ed Sheeran, and Mumford & Sons - among others - comes one of the hottest girl bands in the UK at the moment, Little Mix.
Their debut album, DNA, was released in the US yesterday (28 May) and rocketed to number two on the US iTunes charts. Two versions of the album were released simultaneously: a deluxe 2-disc edition and the standard version. The deluxe edition featuring 16 tracks and four videos (including an interview with the girl band) is currently sitting just behind Daft Punks’ record-breaking album, Random Access Memories. The standard edition features 12 tracks and is at a very respectable 11 on the charts.
With their album and debut single “Wings” having been so highly anticipated in the UK following their season 8 The X Factor win, it wasn’t long before the rest of the world took notice and they were soon achieving similar success in Europe and Australia. They then released “Wings” in America to much fan fare in early 2013, where it has since been taken up and featured on high-profile TV shows Glee and American Idol.
The band is currently in New York promoting the album, and if you happen to be in the Big Apple you can catch them perform as part of Good Morning America’s summer concert series on 7 June.
