After announcing an indefinite hiatus due to irreconcilable differences way back in November, The Civil Wars have announced that they are to release a new, self-titled album. Joy Williams and John Paul White each posted a handwritten note to the band’s website alongside the artwork for the new record, the follow-up to their Grammy award winning debut studio album Barton Hollow.
“Patience is a virtue. Yours has been appreciated. Here’s to the hope you consider it rewarded,” wrote Williams, and White told fans that she is “finally proud of this album,” going on to say “a lot of soul, sweat and tears went into its creation. I hope you feel the heart in each song, that it might connect with yours.”
Although no information was given regarding the possibility of a tour, The Civil Wars self-titled album is to be released by Columbia Records later this summer!
