Edward Snowden may be a name you have come to recognize over the last year. He is a former National Security Agency (NSA contractor) and former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) employee who revealed top secret NSA documents to media outlets, sparking NSA leaks, which brought operational details of global surveillance run by the NSA and numerous international partners to light.
wrappedAlthough extremely controversial, some apparently have come to appreciate his tactics. Baard Vegar Solhjell and Snorre Valen, (Norwegian politicians associated with the Socialist Left party) have nominated Snowden for a Nobel Peace Prize. Washington Post stated that the pair noted that Snowden “contributed to a more stable and peaceful world order.”
With plenty of nominations left to be made, there is far from a guarantee Edward Snowden will receive the prestigious award, but it will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
