It’s a sad week for fans of “The Office”. The long-running series just wrapped its series finale a couple of days ago, but it’s not over yet. Various members of the cast and production team have been airing their nostalgia via social media sites like Twitter, so there’s still some fun yet to be had! In fact, yesterday on facebook Rainn Wilson treated his fans to a photo of the original sign-in sheet for auditions for “The Office” from all the way back in 2003! If you take a look, you’ll see some very familiar names gracing the list.

The first name we noticed was Adam Scott! In case you still don’t watch “Parks and Recreation”, he currently play’s Ben Wyatt, Leslie Knope’s (Amy Poehler’s) brand new husband! It looks like he initially auditioned for the part of Jim Halpert, and while we totally agree that John Krasinski was the best man for the job, we can’t help but go “hmm, I can see that!”

The very next person to audition was Mary Lynn Rajskub, who auditioned for the role of Pam Beesley. The role eventually went to Jenna Fischer, but Mary Lynn recovered just fine. She went on to play Chloe O’Brien in the massively popular TV show “24”!

A bit further down we see that the one and only Alan Tudyk auditioned for the role of Michael Scott! Personally, I’ve got to say that I’m relieved that he didn’t get the part. If he’d gotten this role in 2003, would we have even gotten Joss Whedon’s Serenity in 2005?! Because, let’s be real, there is no Serenity without Wash (Tudyk’s iconic character)!

What do you think? Did the casting director for “The Office” make the right choices?
