As technology advances, so do awards shows. In the midst of awards season, The 5th Annual Shorty Awards are upon us. What is a Shorty Award? It is an award honoring the best of the best in Social Media! You can nominate anyone you want to nominate in categories such as Animated GIF of the year, Best Apps in Social Media, Best Actor/Actress in Social Media, Author, Band, Celebrity, Fake Account, Fansite, the list goes on and on. There are over 80 categories! The awards will be given out in New York City on April 8, 2013.
Currently some familiar faces are up for Shorty Awards including both Team Starkid and Tessa Netting for YouTube Comedy, Team Starkid’s Joe Moses in Comedian; Curt Mega’s webseries, Buffering is nominated in WebShow, Grace Helbig for VideoBlogger, to name a few. There is still time to nominate your favorites and it’s SUPER easy! Simply tweet the message “I nominate @username for a Shorty Award in #category because…” and state your reason for wanting them to win!
