The Strain’s Finale Season Premiere Date Announced

Get ready for more blood sucking action as FX’s series The Strain returns for its final season on July 16.

Looking for a bloody good time? FX’s vampire hit The Strain will be hitting the small screen for its final season on Sunday, July 16 at 10pm. Based on the book series by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan, the series has garnered overall positive reviews, including an 87% on Rotten Tomatoes. Though it received positive reviews, the actual rating of the TV show have been on a downward spiral since season 2.

Recently, a teaser for the upcoming season was released. It reveals no new footage, instead introducing viewers to a new organization known as The Partnership. The Partnership is encouraging people to donate blood to “ensure that everyone can live healthy productive lives.”

Season three had an explosive ending—literally, as everyone’s least favorite child character in any horror TV show ever, Zach, ultimately sided with the strigoi and detonated a nuclear blast that destroyed New York City. We have yet to see how this will impact our heroes, as the new season will take place nine months after the event.

We do know, however, that the bloodsuckers are now in control of the city, as the nuclear winter allowed them to move duriing the day as well as the usual night time. It would seem that the Partnership is the result of human’s living under strigoi control, though again, we can’t be sure until the new season begins.

We’ll also be seeing some new faces, as Jocelyn Hudon, Jess Salgueiro, and K.C. Collins have joined the cast for their final season. Hopefully this exciting and dangerous new world the human characters are forced to live in will see ratings for The Strain pick up once more.
