Producers of the Tony Awards – The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing – confirmed Monday (March 18) that this year’s event will be making its return to Radio City Music Hall. CBS will broadcast the event live on June 9, starting at 8pm EST, with nominations set to be announced April 30.
For the past two years, the Tony Awards had previously been hosted in the Beacon Theater due to Cirque du Solieil’s rock opera Zarkana having called Radio City their home since 2010. Now that Zarkana’s run of shows has ended, the venue has once again become available.
Producers have yet to announce a host for this year’s big Broadway spectacle. Last year’s event was hosted by Neil Patrick Harris with the big winner of the night being the musical Once, based on the 2006 indie film by the same name.
Who are you predicting to get nominated this year? Who should host?
