Steve McQueen and Michael Fassbender have teamed up once again for the movie 12 Years a Slave.
According to Digital Spy, the period drama – that is based on a memoir penned in 1853 – is, “The true story of a free man sold into slavery.” Solomon Northup, who is played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, “was kidnapped and made to work on a Louisiana plantation for twelve years.”
The film has a lot of star power with Benedict Cumberbatch, Brad Pitt, Paul Giamatti, and Quvenzhane Wallis, amongst others, in the lineup.
The trailer was released on Tuesday and, I must say, the film looks very promising. Check out the trailer below: [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMpDUYzLgzY&w=560&h=315]
Fassbender previously worked with McQueen in Hunger (2008) and Shame (2011).
12 Years a Slave will hit theatres on October 18 in North America and on January 24, 2014 in the UK.
