With acclaim from the likes of Wonderland Magazine, American Songwriter, Live Nation’s Ones to Watch and Earmilkto their name, as well as having received hundreds of thousands of plays on Spotify alone and support from major radio players including Tom Robinson of BBC 6 Music, British four-piece indie rock band The Trusted are certainly a group on the rise and making their way onto everybody’s radars.

Today, PopWrapped are delighted to unveil the video for their latest single “Criminals.” Featuring fun, cartoon style animations, the visuals combine clips of the band, along with hand-drawn images, creating a trippy atmosphere that’ll capture your attention from beginning till end. 

“Criminals” follows the release of the band’s four-track EP Love And Suicide. A common theme throughout their music is the overwhelming behaviours of human emotions, focusing particularly on the ups and downs of life. However, “Criminals” seems to top all of their previous releases on the scale of emotion and sincerity. Lead singer Tom Cinngham shares, “Criminals is about loss, heartbreak, guilt and self-absorption. It’s a sad and honest track, but at the same, it’s kind of beautifully uplifting.” Their raw lyrics and heart-wrenching honesty allows listeners to connect with the track on a much deeper level. 

Reminiscent of The Killers meets The 1975, The Trusted have concocted an infectious indie rock banger. Mixed by Grammy nominated Andy Bradfield, who’s worked with Elbow, David Gray, Rufus Wainwright, “Criminals” shimmers with spine-tingling synth string arrangements, bold percussion and husky vocals. In just three minutes and 23 seconds, Southend-on-Sea boys Dave Batchelor, Dale Holt-Mead and brothers Fin and Tom Cunningham have produced a poignant and thought-provoking track, which is certain to make you shed a tear or two.
