It was almost a joining of the boy bands.

Nineties pop boy band the Backstreet Boys almost made a cameo appearance in The Wanted’s newest music video for their song “Walks Like Rihanna”.

The Backstreet Boys’s 1999 video for their hit “I Want It That Way” was mirrored in The Wanted’s video.  The Brits asked the now grown Backstreet Boys if they wanted to do a cameo in the scene.

Howie Dorough from The Backstreet Boys toldMTV News UK: “He [ The Wanted manager] had his partners reach out to me to see if the guys would actually be interested in making a cameo in the [‘Walks Like Rihanna’] video, but unfortunately our schedules didn’t work, but we were very flattered by it.”

Dorough also said, “It’s actually really cool to see that we can inspire other artists that are up and coming.”

He also mentioned that he respects new artists and their drive.

Dorough said: “All the new artists that are coming out… they’re doing their own thing and we pay respect to them. Everybody is getting their shot, to get out there and to bring new music to a new generation of fans that are coming around and so we pay them our respect.”

The Backstreet Boys’ latest album, In A World Like This, goes on sale July 29th
