The Wizard of Oz is getting a makeover. The beloved tale from 1939 is set to be re-imagined by Lifetime.

We all know the story; Dorothy lands in Oz and follows the yellow brick road to The Emerald City to meet with the Wizard. But what would have happened if she had taken the red brick road instead?

Being described as The Wizard of Oz meets Game of Thrones, Red Brick Road will attempt to explore the darker side of Oz and just what lies down the spiral red brick path.

“They’ve been there the whole time in plain sight. Unnoticed. Unexplored. Which raises the question — just where do they go? Red Brick Road will answer that by following Dorothy down that fateful path, taking her to the oldest, darkest and most dangerous parts of Oz to find what became of her friends who all have gone missing.”

Red Brick Road will be based off a series of concept drawings by artist Rob Prior and will be penned by three time Emmy Award nominee Tim Schlattmann, most recently of Dexter fame, with Roy Lee (The Grudge) and Adrian Askarieh (Hitman) signed on as executive producers.
