Since the whole world has been locked away for their own safety, streaming service subscriptions are at an all time high and with so many cinematic realizes being sent to our TV screens Netflix’s The Wrong Missy is the latest release on the streaming radar.
Tim Morris (David Space) goes on a blind date with Missy (Lauren Lapus) and she is crazy after attempting to climb out a window and breaking his leg, Tim returns to his normal life regretting the first date from hell. In true Rom-Com style Tim meets Melissa (Molly Sims) after a suitcase switch up and she’s his dream woman who is gorgeous, doesn’t drink and even reads the same books. Tim is convinced he has found the woman he wants to marry and after exchanging phone numbers in a janitor’s closet, she sends him some racy texts. Tim invites Melissa on a company retreat and gets on a plane thinking she won’t show. Tim gets a text from Melissa but who sits down beside him but Missy his crazy and loud first date. Tim realizes he’s been texting the wrong Missy and now he’s stuck with her on a retreat that could be a game changer for his career.
Starting on a positive note Lauren Lapus is the comedy backbone of this movie, she is really having the time of her life and was funny and charming in a Romantic Comedy that is in nowhere funny or romantic. David Spade give a bland and boring performance as Tim, the script doesn’t give him much who work with but his delivery does him and the movie no favors. Happy Madison Productions are known for churning out comedies usually starring Adam Sandler, who would’ve had more fun with the role but maybe he was busy filming Uncut Gems. From a studio that brought us great movies such as Anger Management, 50 First Dates and The House Bunny, The Wrong Missy sits at the bottom of the pile with Blended and Jack & Jill. Netflix has released some terrible comedies and The Wrong Missy is the most wrong.
