It has been an interesting time for Steelers fans ever since This Is Us has premiered. Why? Well first of all, the show featured star Milo Ventimiglia almost completely naked except for a Terrible Towel over his bits and pieces in the pilot episode. Now, while I find Milo extremely attractive, it was quite upsetting.
Why? Because that is definitely not what a Terrible Towel should be used for and as someone who has had one pinned up on my wall for good luck ever since I was a child, it is upsetting. The show is meant to be featured partly in Pittsburgh, yet there is not one Pittsburgh accent. And trust me, if they were in Pittsburgh, they’d have one weird accent.
(I can say that because I worked very hard to get rid of my accent, thank yins very much.)
But nevertheless, the show is doing wonders for fans of the Steelers and the city as a whole. It is shining a new light to our beloved Burgh and proves that we’re not just home to Michael Keaton and sports teams. (The show does do a good job too of explaining how important our Stillers are to us. Yes, the Stillers.)
So, live from Heinz Field, Mandy Moore and Milo Ventimiglia will announce the NFL draft pick. They will film spots for promos earlier in the field and it will be an event only slightly less exciting than Bane blowing it up in The Dark Knight Rises. Make sure to tune in to see your favorite stars announce who the Steelers are getting in the draft and to see how beautiful Heinz field is.
Because as someone who doesn’t really like sports, but was born in Pittsburgh, I can tell you that Steelers football is a whole different ball game.
