Tiffani Thiessen will soon be pulling double on-screen duty. The Cooking Channel star of Dinner at Tiffani’s is set to co-star in the upcoming Netflix teen sitcom series, Alexa & Katie. This will be Netflix’s first such sitcom, and the show is being billed as a “multi-camera comedy,” ala classics like Seinfeld and Friends.
Alexa & Katie will focus on the adventures of two “lifelong best friends” about to be freshmen in high school and how they deal with feeling like outsiders after a “crisis.” Paris Berelc (of the Disney XD series Mighty Med) is playing Alexa, and Isabel May will be Katie. Saved by the Bell and Beverly Hills, 90210 vet Thiessen is on board as Alexa’s mom, Lori.
Berelc recently shared the news on Twitter and gave a shout-out to her new TV mom:
What Has Tiffani Thiessen Been Up To?
Thiessen’s most recent venture in scripted television was USA’s 2009-2014 White Collar, with Matt Bomer, Willie Garson, and Tim DeKay. Since then, she’s transitioned into the lifestyle arena with the fun cooking show Dinner at Tiffani’s. On each episode, Thiessen welcomes friends and former co-stars she’s worked with into her home for a themed meal and cocktails. Her guests have included Bomer, Garson, Ross Matthews, Tim Meadows, Mario Lopez, Elizabeth Berkley, Ethan Embry, and Bill Bellamy, to name just a few. Thiessen achieved an epic ’90s nostalgia high during the show’s holiday special last year, "Christmas at Tiffani's," when she was joined by both her 90210 co-star Jason Priestley and Saved by the Bell true love, Mark-Paul Gosselaar.
Alexa & Katie will debut on Netflix sometime next year, and after wrapping this spring on Season 3 of Dinner at Tiffani’s, another Christmas special is in the works. Unfortunately, this one will likely be without Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling.
