You might recognize Titus Makin from hit shows such as Fox’s Glee, Freeform’s Pretty Little Liars, ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, CW’s Star-Crossed and most recently on Hulu’s The Path., but what you may not know is that Titus is one heck of a singer. Makin, originally from Sierra Vista, Arizona made his way to New York to attend college. He ended up graduating from New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. Once graduated, he relocated to Los Angeles to pursue his acting/music career on a much bigger and professional level. Through his time on screen, he has been able to work with various music and acting professionals in the industry.
As an artist, Titus channels his inner Lenny Kravitz, Pharrell Williams, Cee Lo Green and Adam Lavine for music inspiration. His music is described as mainstream pop with hints of Soul. Makin has worked with some of the top producers including Jack Scott, Aaron Kellim and David Hodges (who have worked with artists such as Evanescence, Christina Perri, and Kelly Clarkson). When asked about his writing/recording process Makin responded, ”At times it can be taxing (when you get writers stump), but majority of the time extremely fun! I personally like coming into a writing session with a topic or song title that I’ve been thinking about for a while and we kind of go from there. Sometimes I enjoy bringing in a song reference that will set the energy for us. I also write poetry and will bring in a poem to get the creative juices flowing for me and my writing partner. Typically always start with piano or acoustic guitar and build from there.”
Titus has recently released his music video for his single entitled, “Ropes”. The song directed by the Reininga Brothers is said to be about, “… the constant war we have with ourselves every single day! When we want to do good but evil is always present with us. The inward battle of trying to rid yourself of old harmful habits and cling to the healthy. Keeping your connection to God & not turning away trying to fulfill your own selfish desires”
We here at PopWrapped are thrilled to give readers a look at Titus Makin’s Music video for his single “Ropes”
I truly believe that this song has a great message to it. TItus’ lyrics and vocals along with the video direction that the Reininga Brothers have created is so powerful. I would highly recommend this song to anyone who needs some inspiration in their lives.
This is only the beginning for Makin, He is working on a second single due to come out in the next couple of weeks and is in the process of working on his second EP entitled “Lean”. I see great things happening for Makin in the near future. 2017 is only the beginning for Titus Makin.
