This past weekend, British Olympic diver Tom Daley married his partner, U.S. film director Dustin Lance Black. The wedding was held at the beautiful Bovey Castle Hotel on Dartmoor. A beautiful and iconic wedding location, it seems the perfect place to tie the knot and it is just thirty miles from Daley’s home.
In 2013, Daley announced via a YouTube video that he was dating a man. “...I met someone and they make me feel so happy, so safe, and everything just feels great and, well, that some is a guy,” Daley said to reveal the milestone.
Daley is a two time Olympic bronze medalist: one bronze from London and another from Beijing. Black is an American film director, writer, and producer best known for the film Milk about the life of Harvey Milk, a gay rights activist. Black has an Oscar for this film.
During the wedding, there were media rumors that Daley reenacted a scene from Romeo and Juliet but they have been proven false by a wedding guest. However, Daley is one for romantic displays: The couple publicly announced their engagement via an Instagram post on Tom’s account showing their rings and a small announcement in The New York Times. It was subtle but sweet, with the caption featuring “#HeSaidYes and then #ISaidYes." The paper announcement said, “The engagement is announced between Tom, son of Robert and Debra Daley of Plymouth, and Lance, son of Jeff Bisch of Philadelphia and Anne Bisch of Lake Providence.”
Now, there are new photos to share. Looking dapper in Burberry suites, the two walked the aisle in style. Both shared photos to their Instagrams several days after the wedding. While Daley shared a climactic moment, Black chose a more intimate one. We look forward to seeing more wedding photos in the coming days!
