With Valentine’s Day coming up soon, we decided it was time to take a look back through the history of popular television and pick our favorite TV couples — our OTPs, if you will. Now, obviously theses are our picks, and you guys might have differing opinions (which we’d love to hear in the comment section below). Keep reading to see who we felt were the real OTPs of TV history!
Olivia Pope and President Fitzgerald – Scandal
These two have everything a dynamic couple needs, but the most important thing they have which lands them on this list is chemistry. We want them to be together purely because they are magnets for each other in ever scene.
Buffy and Angel – Buffy the Vampire Slayer
This opinion will get us some disagreement amongst Buffy fans; however, we feel that this pairing was truly a match made in TV heaven. Their forbidden love made us root for them even more, and we continue to hope they do find happiness someday — but not too much for Angel’s sake.
Carol Hathaway and Doug Ross – ER
ER offered the world countless amounts of pairings throughout its long run, but the original characters Doug and Carol had true love. The moment when they reunite in Seattle still gives us all the feels.
Jane and Rafael – Jane the Virgin
Here is another pairing that won’t get 100% agreement by the fans (#TeamRaf), but we just find these two to really have what it takes as a couple. Michael is a super sweet guy — most of the time — but Jane and Raf have chemistry that could light a fire.
Ross and Rachel – Friends
This pairing was the definition of ‘will they, won’t they?’ in TV’s history, but their story is so good. We could watch the final episode of the series where Rachel gets off that plane again and again.
Meredith Grey and Derek Shepherd – Grey’s Anatomy
While this love story ended in a tragic way that only Shonda Rhimes could deliver, it is still one of the best ever! Watching these two fall in love and then face obstacle after obstacle will make you hate and love the show over and over again.
Elizabeth and Tom Keen – The Blacklist
The majority of this show’s fans will hate this decision; however, we believe that the true strength of any couple is overcoming obstacles, and these two have done just that. Where their love will go with the spin-off series just weeks away is unknown, but we will continue to root for Keen2.
Ezra and Aria – Pretty Little Liars
Picking one OTP off of this show is tough because we support Haleb as much as Ezria, but that the story of Ezra and Aria is filled with so many things that should make them not work just makes us love them even more.
Rory Gilmore and Logan Huntzberger – Gilmore Girls
We are definitely in the minority on this choice since most of the fans of Gilmore Girls ship Rory and Jess, but these two just have a bond that can’t be undone. These two could try to be apart, but, like Lorelai and Christopher, something continues to pull them back together — and Logan is the cutest of all of her boyfriends.
Phoebe Halliwell and Cole Turner – Charmed
We know most of you are shaking your heads at this choice because this relationship was riddled with bad things, and this couple was, in all reality, bad for each other, but watching them was amazing. They had us glued to the screen to see what would happen next, and, like other couples on this list, their chemistry was undeniable.
