Universal Pictures’ Townies just picked up two Funny or Die guys.
Dave Franco and Christopher Mintz-Plasse have joined the cast of Townies! The pair, who have worked together on some hilarious videos for Funny or Die, will be joining quite the cast. Seth Rogen will star as a family man looking to take on a local fraternity chapter headed up by Zac Efron (you had me at Zefron). Franco will take the role of vice president under Efron while Rose Byrne will star as Rogan’s wife.
Townies will be directed by Nicholas Stroller and produced by Rogan, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver for their company Point Grey Pictures. Also nabbing production credits are executive producers Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane of Good Universe joined by Andrew Cohen and Brendan O’Brien. Co-producing are Matt Leonetti and Nicole Brown who are also from Good Universe.
The film is in pre-production and no word yet on a release date. You can catch Franco in the zombie love story Warm Bodies (out now) and in May you can see him on the big screen in Now You See Me. Mintz-Plasse, who has worked with Rogen in Superbad, just finished filming Kick Ass 2.
