Even before season two has finished production, Amazon have announced that its double Golden Globe-winning series Transparent will return for a third season.
Show creator Jill Soloway spoke of her delight shortly after the announcement was made, declaring:
“I am so thrilled that I get to share more of the Pfeffermans’ story with the world.”
The first ten-episode season received rave reviews from critics on both sides of the Atlantic with many championing Jeffrey Tambor’s portrayal of Maura, formerly known as Mort, as she finally opened up to her family members about her identity. What followed was a complicated, emotional journey for everyone, actors and viewers alike. The season two
episodes are set to be released later in the year.
As online TV services continue to grow in popularity, companies are having to work harder and harder to win over viewers and ensure shows earn themselves further seasons. Transparent is proof, if any proof was needed, that, even when put up against multi-million dollar budget shows, you don’t always need bags of money to make a show that’s truly worth watching.
