It is a story that enomred the entire world. The rescue of 12 young thai footballers and their coach from a flooded cave where they were trapped for days is the kind of true to life premise that Hollywood salivates over. So it is not surprising that there is already not one but two films in development about it.
The first outfit to announce their effort is independent Christian studio, Pure Flix. Managing partner, Michael Scott is based on Thailand and actually has a personal connection to what transpired."I couldn't be more excited. This story has meant so much to me as I have followed it in Thailand this summer," he said "My wife actually grew up with the Thai Navy SEAL that died in the cave. To see all that heroic bravery in the cave, and to get all the divers out, it's just such a touching event and so personal to me." he then added "We're here really looking at this as a movie that could inspire millions of people across the globe."
Meanwhile Crazy Rich Asians director John Chu and the film's production company Ivanhoe Pictures have recently announced that they will be making another version for a very important reason which Chu pointed out in a tweet.“I refuse to let Hollywood #whitewashout the Thai Cave rescue story! No way. Not on our watch. That won’t happen or we’ll give them hell, There’s a beautiful story abt human beings saving other human beings. So anyone thinking abt the story better approach it right & respectfully.”

Well hopefully we get two respectful and good films out of all of this, and the Thai boys , their coach and families might even get to attend two Hollywood premieres!
