Despite the recent controversy surrounding him, A&E Networks have now stated that Phil Robertson will be returning to popular programme Duck Dynasty.

Phil Robertson, the father of the family on which the show focuses, hit the headlines recently when he discussed his anti-homosexual beliefs in an interview with GQ magazine. Following this, A&E Networks chose to suspend him from the show.

The network, however, has now said that he will indeed be returning to the show, with filming beginning again in spring. In a statement that highlighted that they did not agree with Phil Robertson’s opinions, A&E said that “Duck Dynasty is not a show about one man’s views. It resonates with a large audience because it is a show about family… a family that America has come to love.”

The statement went on to say: “While Phil’s comments made in the interview reflect his personal view based on his own beliefs, and his own personal journey, he and his family have publicly stated that they regret the ‘coarse language’ he used and the misinterpretation or his core beliefs base on the article. He also made it clear he would never ‘incite or encourage hate’”

A&E Networks has also announced that in addition it will be airing public service announcements “promoting unity, tolerance and acceptance among all people.”
