Just when you thought there was no other possible idea for a horror series, or mini-series, we come across The Bates Motel. In this prequel to Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho”, Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) is just a simple teenage boy dragged to some coastal small town by his crazy mother, Norma (played by Vera Farmiga). This is where they buy a motel, The Bates Motel, eeeek!
This series explores the life of Norman Bates, before he lost his mind and started killing people. Freddy Highmore has starred in Finding Neverland & Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, Highmore was looking to try something new. He told Entertainment Weekly “I’ve always played the same character again and again. It would get alittle dull for me, and for you watching, if it’s always the just the same person.”
Norman Bates Is far from normal, and he is the one who gives us the inside look into The Bates Motel and showing us just how he will later become our villain. “The Bates Motel”, premiering tonight at 10pm on A&E.
