Noooo bad news for Marnie/Charlie shippers, not sure if they have a ‘shipper name’ so I’ll call them ‘Marlie’, anyway regardless of that, there’s news in today that according to the New York Post, Christopher Abbott who plays Marnie’s on-off boyfriend, Charlie, won’t be appearing in season 3 of Girls.
This comes after the highly anticipated third season of the show, which has recently gone in to production; apparently the reason for his departure is due to disagreements with Lena Dunham (writer and main protagonist of the show) regarding the direction the TV series is going in. Abbott’s rep made this statement: “[Chris] is grateful for the experience of collaborating with Lena, Judd[Apatow], and the entire ‘Girls’ cast and crew, but right now he’s working on numerous other projects and has decided not to return to the show.”
Allison Williams character, Marnie only just got back together with her sweetheart Charlie, after spending the majority of season 2 apart, and in the season finale they seemed happier than ever, so what does this mean for Marnie? Will Dunham be looking to bring new faces to the show? And ultimately, are you sad we’ll no longer get to see Charlie and his cute puppy-dog face? Let us know!
