Traditionally, one announces a Royal Birth by placing a notice outside Buckingham Palace. No such thing for thoroughly modern Royals, William and Kate, who are breaking with tradition by posting the announcement on Twitter.
Technically speaking it will be up on the Clarence House website first, but as that’s linked to their Twitter. It shall be seen by countless tweeters around the globe, and is expected to go viral.
With the Royal Baby due sometime in the middle of July (no exact due date has been confirmed), it remains to be seen if we will we be on the edges of our seats for days waiting for the announcement. Then we are only greeted by the Fail Whale because of Twitter crashing at the crucial moment.
The previous royal trailblazer was Prince Charles, with his birth announcement given over the radio.
