Reports are suggesting that David Beckham is making his acting debut in thriller The Secret Service. The former Manchester United and Real Madrid footballer was reportedly written into Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming movie, according to sources from The Sun.
Beckman is meant to be close to signing a deal after Colin Firth approached him regarding a role. The source said, ‘Becks was asked by Colin Firth if he’d like to be in the movie but he is yet to fully commit. He loves movies and fancies appearing on the big screen-but just as a one-off, not a full-time career.’
Scripts and offers of screen work have reportedly bombarded the footballer, since retiring from football earlier this year. The source added that Vaughn wants Beckham to star as he feels it ‘will raise the profile of the movie to such heights, everyone will want to see it.’
As well as Colin Firth, Michael Caine is also confirmed to star and Samuel L. Jackson recently signed on as a villain. Film industry mogul Harvey tipped Beckham for a career in Hollywood, earlier this year, saying that the star ‘can be anything he wants.’
