Abbie Bethell

Staff Writer

Microsoft has confirmed that the DVR feature on the new Xbox One will require an Xbox Live Gold Membership in order to function.

Other features requiring an Xbox Live Gold Membership are:
-       Internet Explorer
-
Skype
-
OneGuide
-
Game DVR
-
SmartMatch
-
Special Offers & Exclusive Deals
-
The NFL
-
Premium entertainment applications
-
Unrivalled multi-player gaming.

Entitled ‘Project Upload’; the GameDVR will allow the player to capture/store the last five minutes of any game they’re playing.

Gamescom 2013 will kick off on August 21st. However, rumours are rife that Microsoft will be making an exclusive announcement about Xbox One the day prior.

This announcement comes a month after Microsoft was virtually backed into a corner by fans; forcing them to take a step-back regarding some of their policies for the new console. Click here for the full extent of changes made to the game console.

The pricey next-generation console which will go on sale this November will cost $499 in the US, €499 in most of Europe and £429 in the UK.
