Young Sheldon Gets First Big Bang Theory Spinoff | Young Sheldon

After 10 seasons, The Big Bang Theory is finally getting a spinoff about Young Sheldon. The story will focus on Sheldon Cooper's childhood in Texas where he is bullied and misunderstood (not that that changes much when he is an adult). Iain Armitage (Big Little Lies) is set to star as little Shelly Cooper. Mary Cooper (portrayed by Laurie Metcalf in The Big Bang Theory) will be played by Metcalf's real life daughter Zoe Perry.

Jim Parson's will narrate the show as adult Sheldon and executive produce (he originally brought the Young Sheldon idea to Big Bang series producers). Jon Favreau (The Jungle Book, Iron Man) will executive produce, as well as direct the pilot episode. Steve Molaro, Todd Spiewak, and Big Bang co-creator Chuck Lorre also serve as executive producers.

Armitage and Perry will be joined on screen by Lance Barber (The Comeback), Raegan Revord (Modern Family) and Montana Jordan. Barber will play Sheldon's father George, with Revord and Jordan as Sheldon's siblings, Missy and George Jr.

Young Sheldon is expected to air following The Big Bang Theory's eleventh season, assuming star contracts can be worked out. Is this series something you plan to stick around and watch? Do you think Young Sheldon will last as long as its predecessor?

Having been bored of The Big Bang Theory for many seasons now, I'm curious to hear if current fans are on-board with this spinoff. Could it possibly renew interest in fans that have fallen by the wayside over the years? My bet is no. Sheldon is simply the most unlikable character on the show. I would have much rather watched Howard's college years at MIT with a new cast of awkward nerds as his friends. See all his horrible schemes to pick up women and failed attempts to join parties. What Big Bang character do you want to see get the next spinoff?
