While being interviewed at the 2013 Galway Film Fleadh (Ireland’s leading film festival), Zachary Quinto let some Star Trek news slip out.
When asked about the film he stated, “Star Trek 3 should be filming, I suppose, next year. It’s going to be made a lot quicker than the last one. That’s the plan, although nothing is confirmed yet.”
If this is true, JJ Abrams is going to be pulling double duty with Star Trek 3 and Star Wars 7, since the latter has a release date of 2015. Having two major films in production at once would be a challenge for any director, but if anyone could pull it off, I’m sure Abrams would be capable.
Plus, Vulcans can’t lie, right?
In any case, I will be waiting like an excited fangirl to see the 3rd installment in this franchise no matter when it hits the big screen.
