To say it’s been a rather wild year would be somewhat of an understatement, and PopWrapped are delighted to premiere the new single from appropriately named, Brooklyn-based, indie dance/pop band Zoos called “Affection Machine.” The track is a fun summer jam from their upcoming debut EP, Cover Girl, due out this Fall. Groovy and infectious, “Affection Machine” is a track about finding love at the club – it serves as a great introduction to the collection and that will surely put some pep in your step.
The band originated in 2018 when vocalist/guitarist Mitch Meyer and bassist Frank Poma began collaborating on synth-driven alternative tracks, inspired by bands and artists such as Phoenix, Coldplay and The 1975, and keyboardist Horacio Martinex joined a few months later. After releasing several singles in their first year together including “All Wrong” and “Currents”, the trio became a quartet with the arrival of drummer Tom Corrado in 2019.
Their name, Zoos, encapsulates the mental imagery the band wanted to project to listeners: a big party welcome to all shapes and sizes. By the time the first few months of 2020 had rolled around, the group had performed at several NYC venues including Knitting Factory, Goldsounds, and Footlightand when, like much of the rest of the world, they had to go into quarantine, they used the time they had to write and record Cover Girl and build their own recording studio in Brooklyn.
