’Constantine’ Calls ‘Angels And Ministers Of Grace’ To Defend Us

‘Constantine’ returned for the season’s semi-final episode, “Angels And Ministers Of Grace”, and it featured one bloody hell of a situation.

It’s been a regular thing for Fridays to have Constantine bring the weekend around and this one was no exception. The show returned for the season’s semi-final episode, “Angels And Ministers Of Grace”, and it featured one bloody hell of a situation. So let’s see what we got this time around.

It all begins with a girl buying drugs in a not-so-decent neighbourhood and just when she’s about to take them, some beastly old man attacks and kills her. With her veins showing all over her body, all of a sudden she opens her eyes properly.

John manages to put Zed’s rest to an end, while Manny appears to inform them about the girl with the drugs arriving at the hospital. The team soon arrives with a hurt Chas so they can get a bed and our psychic touches her, getting a vision of hers opening the eyes and bringing a deadly, bright, hot light from above along with some kind of angel. Seconds later, the girl starts crashing and Zed gets yet another seizure.

With Zed being examined, John and Chas get past an alcoholic doctor and cast a spell around the now dead girl’s body, who seems to be full of darkness. The latter is sent back home to look in Jarvis’ archives for dark matters that could have caused this, while the former stays to find out more details about how it all happened to the girl and where whatever did this to her could be.

Meanwhile, Zed turns out to have a mass in her head, which could end up being a tumor and could be the reason for her visions. At the same time, the drunk doctor gets to the meds storage and is attacked by the same creature who got the girl with the drugs down. With Mr. Constantine mad at Manny, he gets him to stay in a human body with a spell in order to heal his friend, but it turns out he might just not have his powers.

The two of them find the dead doctor full of blood and with his chest all open, finding out he’s got a heart of darkness. They soon realise it’s the work of someone with a Blood Diamond, courtesy of a legendary, hellish sorcerer. With the crime scene sealed, the demon slayer sends Manny to look for a connection between the two victims and is on his way.

Returning back home, the hellblazer finds a box with a piece of the Blood Diamond. Over at the hospital, Manny is taken to a storage room by a nurse for some sex, as the man whose body he’s taken is having an affair with her. John gets Chas to hold the piece of the diamond to see what happens and as his friend is having the darkness rising in him, he thankfully makes him drop the stone in time.

John tells Manny the diamond lets out the rage of the man who touches it and makes him a killer. With the files showing that both victims are addicts who wasted their second chances, the two of them come to the conclusion that some mad patient could be the killer. In the meantime, Zed has a chat with Manny and ends up feeling relief, after he makes her realise that her powers are all for good, since she makes use of them to save lives.

Morris, the patient that was thought to be the killer, becomes the third victim of the guy with the Blood Diamond. While the evil dude is at it, John interrupts but he ends up on the ground before he even does a thing. Manny finds him and thinks he needs to talk with Zed. However, Constantine feels guilty for her tumor, as he was the one who got her to extensively use her powers. While talking, they realise that her doctor was in some war and that’s the exact place that the diamond comes from, which makes him the killer.

As Zed prepares to leave the hospital without further diagnosis or treatment, her doctor starts getting pissed at her for not taking advantage of that second chance. Thankfully, John and Manny jump in and prove him to be the guy they’re looking for, going after him. With Zed realising it’s the white, holy light from her vision that will put an end to the dark matter.

Since there’s no problem John Constantine can’t solve, he reveals that he could reverse the spell that’s on Manny the whole time and so he does. His angel friend comes right back full of light and takes the outraged one with him, putting an end to that hellish situation. The diamond does stick its pieces back together, but is well-kept in a box.

John joins Zed while she prays in a church and shows he cares about her, before Manny appears to both of them. The lady is not willing to remove her tumor, if it’s going to cost her powers. After all, it’s basically confirmed that her visions are totally heaven-sent.

And that’s it! Final episode of Constantine‘s first season coming next week on NBC and you definitely don’t want to miss it. Check back on PopWrapped for further updates on the show’s future and more.
