NBC has scored a silent hit and a season two renewal with game show Hollywood Game Night.
The second season is set to air sometime next summer or sooner with a ten episode run. The game show garnered popularity by having not only Jane Lynch as the host but by tapping celebrity guests.
For those unfamiliar with the game set up, there are five games played each night to accrue points for the contestants. The first two games are worth one point a piece for correct answers. The next two games are worth two points for correct answers and then the final game is worth five points per correct answer and the team with the leading points goes first.
Teams consist of four players each consisting of three celebrities and one civilian. The civilian is team captain. The celebrities play for a chance to win $10,000 for a charity of their choice. The civilians play for a chance to win $25,000.
Some of the games played are: Snack Round, Take the Hint, Lil’ Picassos, Timeline, and others.
The show was created by Sean Haynes (of Will & Grace fame). The show was inspired by his and producer Todd Milner’s real life game nights.
The show debuted in July and was watched by 4.9 million viewers.
