As someone who is a major Joss Whedon devotee (along with countless others) there is some hope for another project helmed by the creative genius.

After taking a step back from the expansive cinematic Marvel universe, Whedon made it known that he hoped to create an original project to deviate from the stories that have very specific guidelines and focal points. Whedon has provided television and film with some of the most iconic and influential characters of all time with series like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Dollhouse and the cult classic series Firefly. From a film standpoint, he graced viewers with the self-aware film Cabin in the Woods that continued his dominance with any subject matter he hoped to tackle. Now Whedon has revealed that he has something in the works, but doesn’t want to reveal too much just yet.

When speaking with The Wrap at the HeForShe Media Summit in Los Angeles, the director/writer was receiving an accolade for his strengths in writing powerful women, which led to his hints regarding what comes next, saying, “It is a story about a girl who goes through some unbelievable sh*t. It is an original screenplay that is very different from everything I’ve ever done except for that it’s exactly the same,” The coy response from the filmmaker provides us with some new excitement abut his plans for the future, while also noting this is a new and slightly “terrifying” experience because he can do whatever he wants to do once again without a set plan. Whedon goes on to share that he’s working on amping up the third act of the script which can only mean Joss Whedon’s brainchild will come into fruition soon enough! Are you ready for another
