Martin Sheen can add another accolade to his many already received when he is honoured at the Dubai International Film Festival.
During the annual festival, Sheen will be given the “Lifetime Achievement Award”, reports Digital Spy. Sheen will be present for the ceremony and will also be involved in a festival Q&A session.
Speaking of the honour, Sheen said, “I am truly honoured to accept the Dubai International Film Festival’s ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ and [I’m] looking forward to celebrating the region’s gifted cinematic storytellers.”
Sheen joins a list of some of Hollywood’s finest. In the Festival’s 10-year history, previous recipients have included Oliver Stone, Sean Penn and Morgan Freeman.
Sheen has had a long and distinguished career. He has starred in such films as Badlands (1973), Wall Street (1987), The American President (1995), The Departed (2006) and 2012’s The Amazing Spiderman. However, he is probably best known for his performance in Francis Ford Coppola’s Apocalypse Now (1979) and his multi-award winning role as President Josiah Bartlet in TV’s The West Wing.
The Dubai International Film Festival runs from December 6 to December 14. Take a trip down memory lane and enjoy the following scene from The West Wing season 2 finale, “Two Cathedrals”.
