Vice President-Elect Mike Pence attended Hamilton: An American Musical on Friday night. His appearance was met with cheers and boos from the audience. After the show, the cast shared a message with Pence. Cast member Brandon Victor Dixon asked Pence to represent all Americans in his future policies — not just the limited social identity groups he has previously supported.
Several people, including President-elect Trump, felt the cast harassed Pence. This prompted outrage from Trump/Pence supporters for others to #BoycottHamilton. In response, Twitter users decided to rename musicals so they would align more with Pence’s views.

It’s safe to say that there’s an official Twitter war between Hamilton fans and Pence supporters. While the renamed musical titles are witty and amusing, it’s concerning how accurately they reflect Pence’s values. Many believe, though, that the entire Pence/Hamilton conflict to be a planned distraction to keep focus off of Trump’s $25 million settlement for his Trump University lawsuit.
