We all know that Daniel Craig will return as 007 in the much awaited 24th James Bond movie, but we don’t know yet who will play the part of his principal enemy and be the worthy successor of Mads Mikkelsen (Le Chiffre, Casino Royale), Mathieu Amalric (Dominic Greene, Quantum of Solace) and Javier Bardem (Raoul Silva, Skyfall).
However, according to Variety, actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, known for his role of Solomon Northup in 12 Years of Slave (for which he won numerous awards for Best Actor), could be the next villain. Whilst the Oscar nominee is not yet in official talks, his name has been widely circulated as the front runner to play Bond’s next nemesis.
If he gets the role, he would become the second black villain of the James Bond saga, following Yaphet Kotto (who played Doctor Kananga in Live and Let Die in 1973) and would also be the first British villain of the Daniel Craig era.
Variety reported that “the studio had no comment”. The film shooting should begin this summer, and should be released at the end of 2015.
