Parks And Recreation Finale Meets Mini Star-Lord

As we say goodbye to Parks and Recreation, we can say hello once more to a Marvel superhero. Thing is, he’s just tinier.

For those who have been a fan of NBC’s Parks and Recreation, whether you’ve been a fan since the first episode or a new one, you’ve probably enjoyed watching the bittersweet season finale. Before we can say adieu completely, did you notice a cleverly placed Marvel Easter egg anywhere?

In this scene, the year is 2022. Andy Dwyer (Chris Pratt) and his wife, April (Aubrey Plaza), open the door to see a group of trick-or-treaters. On the far left, there’s a mini Star-Lord in the midst of the Halloween crowd. Other than standing out from his peers, the appearance of the Star-Lord pays homage to Pratt’s role in Guardians of the Galaxy, a.k.a. Star-Lord! If you’re asking yourself why is this such a big deal, well, it pays homage to a certain superhero in the Marvel universe that teams up with a genetically-modified talking kick-ass raccoon, a tree-like humanoid that has a three-word saying, a green-skinned assassin, and a warrior in search for vengeance. Sound familiar?

What this means is that Andy must have seen Guardians of the Galaxy at some point. In an even bigger picture, the Marvel film exists in that timeline! Talk about mind-blowing, literally.

While it’s sad to see Parks and Recreation go, Guardians of the Galaxy is still sticking around. The second installment will be back in theaters on May 5, 2017.
