‘Now Is Not The End’, As Marvel’s Agent Carter Arrives With A Bang

Marvel’s Agent Carter premiered on ABC and the first episode, “Now Is Not The End”, got us straight into the actions of the well-known Peggy.

Hello Marvel fans! With little going on right now with your beloved Cinematic Universe, Agent Carterarrives on the small screen as a gift sent from above. With a 2-hour premiere taking place earlier tonight, the show got officially on air and it’s on the right track from the very beginning.

“Now Is Not The End” kicks off with the devastating ending of Peggy’s love story with Captain America, before we’re taken to 1946’s New York where the femme fatale works for Strategic Scientific Reserve (S.S.R.) – an earlier version of S.H.I.E.L.D., and lives with a girlfriend roommate.

In a man’s world, Agent Carter’s organization is kept busy by Howard Stark, who sold weapons to the enemy and discusses the matter with extensive use of humor. Even though our girl knew him from the war days and stands up for him, her opinion is not really valued. Being a woman at the time was not the easiest thing after all and despite Agent Daniel Sousa showing some support to her, she soon asks him to avoid such actions in the future – Peggy Carter is a grown woman, a boss-ass bitch, the head bitch in charge if you wish, and can handle her fellow agents on her own after all.

While at some diner restaurant, a note left on her table leads her at the back for a meeting. A mysterious man states that she’ll have to follow him but soon as she kicks his and his fellow driver’s asses, Stark gets out of the car to take her with him. He soon fills her cup about being set-up, by having some dangerous explosives of his sold in the meantime, and asks to clear his name. Despite her initial hesitation, she’s soon in and her old pal makes his sweet escape.

Over at S.S.R., she jumps in a meeting about one of Stark’s “bad boys” selling point and gets all the information she needs, by supposedly feeling cups of coffee. After taking a day-off for lady issues, she attends a party all-undercover with her blonde wig on. She soon makes her way to the buyer’s office and discusses a chemical formula in his possession, before seducing the guy and putting him to sleep with a kiss – thanks there, lipstick. It turns out the formula is now an actual bomb an despite some hardships, Peggy manages to make her way out of the room with it.

Back at her place, she manages to deactivate the bomb smoothly, but it turns out someone has followed her home. Mistaken by the wig, he kills her blonde roommate, before she kicks his ass. Despite not having quite enough time to mourn her friend’s death, she goes deep into discovering what goes on with the bomb, along with Stark’s right hand, Jarvis. While remembering her bitter goodbye with Captain America and being interrupted by Sousa, Agent Carter has some kind of a price on her head, with the guy who killed her pal looking to have her killed as well.

Peggy and Jarvis arrive at the lab where the bombs are created and as the lady gets inside, she gets one of the scientists cornered. However, he gets the bombs delivered and breaks one to cause confusion and escape the situation. Even though our dame makes it out alive, her quest goes, while it seems Stark and Jarvis are not telling her quite everything about their plans.

What a premiering episode that was – straight into the action! Make sure you don’t miss it and don’t forget to look back for the recap of Agent Carter’s second episode later in the day.
