Get ready for an aca-awesome MTV Movie Awards opening number! A few weeks ago Rebel Wilson tweeted out her followers that she was trying to get the cast of break out hit “Pitch Perfect” to reunite on the upcoming award show for their first live performance. Fans quickly showed their love of the idea, and after a few weeks of speculation and some confirmation from Rebel Wilson herself, there will be a group performance of an all new song.

The films director, Jason Moore, has come up with an all new musical number that will pit the cast members — Skylar Astin, Anna Camp, Esther Dean, Adam DeVine, Alexis Knapp, Hana Mae Lee, Ben Platt, Brittany Snow and host Rebel Wilson — as dueling acapella groups the Barden Bellas and Treblemakers, according to an MTV press release. The only one missing from the list is Anna Kendrick, the film’s lead. I could be wrong but I believe the filming of “The Last 5 Years” (a movie Kendrick is staring in with SMASH star Jeremy Jordan) just started production possibly giving her a scheduling conflict.

“I could not be more thrilled for the MTV Movie Awards to be the setting for the ‘Pitch Perfect’ Bella and Treblemaker reunion,” Moore said. “We have something exciting in store for the MTV audience, and I know the cast and the fans are going to really enjoy our first-ever live performance.”

The movie is nominated for four MTV Movie Awards: Best Female Performance (Rebel Wilson), Best Breakthrough Performance (Rebel Wilson), Best Musical Moment and Best WTF Moment.

The MTV Movie Awards will air live on April 14 at 9 p.m.
