Artwork For SDCC Souvenir Book Has Been Revealed!

Dave McKean unveiled his Sandman artwork, which will be featured on the cover of the 2013 Comic-Con souvenir book.

Newsarama reports that the artwork commemorates the 25^th anniversary of the legendary Vertigo/DC Comics series created by Neil Gaiman.  Throughout Sandman’s original run McKean created its iconic covers.

The souvenir book will also mark a series of other anniversaries.  These anniversaries include:

• Seventy-five years of Superman
• Fifty years of Doctor Strange, Doctor Who, X-Men and The Avengers
• Twenty-five years of the Eisner Awards
• Twenty years of Strangers In Paradise

Later in the year Gaiman will return to The Sandman. He will create a prequel miniseries illustrated by JH Williams III.

The San Diego Comic-Con International 2013 is from July 18-21.
