Dave McKean unveiled his Sandman artwork, which will be featured on the cover of the 2013 Comic-Con souvenir book.
Newsarama reports that the artwork commemorates the 25th anniversary of the legendary Vertigo/DC Comics series created by Neil Gaiman. Throughout Sandman’s original run McKean created its iconic covers.
The souvenir book will also mark a series of other anniversaries. These anniversaries include:
- Seventy-five years of Superman
- Fifty years of Doctor Strange, Doctor Who, X-Men and The Avengers
- Twenty-five years of the Eisner Awards
- Twenty years of Strangers In Paradise
Later in the year Gaiman will return to The Sandman. He will create a prequel miniseries illustrated by JH Williams III.
The San Diego Comic-Con International 2013 is from July 18-21.
