Cross-dressing British comedian Eddie Izzard says that he has been attacked twice while wearing women’s clothes…just in this past year.
Izzard says the beatings occurred at New York’s Times Square, and London’s Leicester Square, The Mirror reported.
“It was bad. I was walking along, being myself and minding my own business,” he told The Mirror. “I wasn’t doing anything wrong but because I was dressed in women’s clothes they set upon me…I was badly injured. It was horrible, I was very upset and frightened.”
Izzard, who has acted in Hannibal, Across the Universe, Ocean’s Eleven and Ocean’s Twelve, wears his choice of women’s or men’s clothing when doing his stand up comedy routines. He describes himself as a straight transvestite.
Izzard has announced and confirmed his plans to run as the Labour Party candidate in London’s mayoral race in the year 2020.
