A strange detail has emerged in the case of Curtis Reeves, the man accused of killing a fellow movie goer for repeated loud texting before a film.
Apparently Reeves himself was also texting shortly before the outburst on Jan. 13th that led to his opening fire at a movie theater in Dade City, Florida. Records show that Reeves had texted his son, Matthew, minutes before asking the couple in front of him to stop texting.
The situation between the 71-year-old Reeves and the murder victim, 43-year-old Chad Oulsen, escalated, resulting in Reeves shooting and killing Oulsen and injuring Oulsen’s wife, who attempted to shield her husband.
Reeves, a former Tampa police officer with an outstanding record, has pleaded not guilty to charges of second degree murder and aggravated battery. Reeves also stated that Chad Oulsen attacked him first, a claim witnesses have refuted.
If convicted, Reeves could serve a minimum prison sentence of 25 years.
