Oprah Winfrey, Eddie Murphy And Kate Hudson Cast In Richard Pryor Biopic!

WHAT A CAST!! Oprah Winfrey will join Mike Epps, Kate Hudson and Eddie Murphy in the upcoming Richard Pryor biopic, which is set to begin filming in March.

Could Oprah Winfrey once again garner some Oscar buzz? And hopefully this time not get snubbed like she did for ‘The Butler’?

The upcoming biopic on legendary comedian Richard Pryor has added some big names to the cast, who will be joining Mike Epps (landing the leading role of Pryor).

‘Empire’ creator Lee Daniel is set to helm the film on the late legends life, and has added Kate Hudson in the role of Pryor’s widow Jennifer Lee, Eddie Murphy as Pryor’s father Leroy ‘Buck Carter’ Pryor, and none other than Oprah Winfrey as Pryor’s grandmother, who helped raise the boy and also ran a brothel (where the comic lived).

Production on the film is set to begin this March, after Daniels and writer Danny Strong wrap up with season 2 of ‘Empire’. Strong is also writing the script alongside Bill Condon.

Jennifer Lee is helping to produce the film.

Winfrey has previously worked with Daniels in ‘The Butler’, in which she was rudely snubbed by the Academy. She’s also rumored to be appearing in season two of ‘Empire’.

Oprah has been adamant lately in showcasing her stellar acting skills, as she did in ‘The Butler’ as well as in ‘Selma’.

This film is already garnering a lot of buzz, so it will be interesting to see where it lands upon release.
